SPECIAL NOTES PERTAINING TO MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION

  1. Final classification of any area applying for membership in CWSAA rests with the Board of Directors who will be considering the main source of revenue from the area in order to make the classification.

  2. Private clubs will receive no special consideration for membership. They will be required to qualify under one of the general headings indicated.

  3. It is recognized that a skiing operation is comprised of those facilities owned and operated by the member company.

  4. It is a requirement of membership that an area must have a lift or area operable at the time of application, or within one year of admission. If at the end of that period the area or lift is not operating the member will be subject to review by the Board of Directors at which time they may grant an extension or request the member to withdraw from the Association.

  5. Those facilities not directly owned by a CWSAA Member who wish to participate in the CWSAA Risk Management Program must join the Association as an Associate Member.

  6. Any area or Associate Member wishing to participate in the CWSAA Risk Management Program must recognize some operations may be deemed to be a greater risk than usual and, therefore, may be assessed a special rate or recommended for separate coverage.

  7. The Risk Management Program Brokers, the CWSAA Insurance Committee and the CWSAA Board of Directors reserve the right to earmark some operations as high risk areas thereby invoking Item 6.

  8. Please be advised that the Canada West Ski Areas Association operations are based on a Fiscal Year, April 1st to March 31st. All membership dues are based on this period and no pro-rating of membership is allowed.
